An Act to repeal the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1967 (W.P. Act XVII of 1967).

Preamble.– Whereas it is expedient to repeal the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1967 (W.P. XVII of 1967);

      It is enacted as follows:---

1. Short title and commencement.– (1) This Act may be called the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1967 (W.P. XVII of 1967) (Repeal) Act, 2019.

      (2)  It shall come into force at once.

2. Repeal of Act XVII of 1967.– The Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1967 (W.P. XVII of 1967) is hereby repealed.

STATEMENT OF OBJECT AND REASONS

Since the assessment and collection of land revenue has been abolished through the Punjab Land Revenue (Abolition) Act, 1998, therefore the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1967 (Punjab Act No. II of 1098) needs not to be in field. Functioning of Arazi Record Centers is under the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1967 (W.P. XVII of 1967), therefore such Arazi Record Centers would also be closed down.
