The Supreme Court and High Court (Ex­tension of Jurisdiction to Certain Tribal Areas) Act, 1973

[9th February, 1973]

An Act to extend die Jurisdiction of the Supreme Court and the High Court to certain Tribal Areas.

WHEREAS it is expedient to extend the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court and the High Court to certain Tribal Areas;

It is hereby enacted as follows:---

1. Short title and commencement.—(1) This Act may be called the Supreme Court and High Court (Extension of Jurisdiction to certain Tribal areas) Act, 1973.

(2) It shall come into force at once.

2. Extension of Jurisdiction of Supreme Court. The Supreme Court of Pakistan shall have, in relation to the Provincially Administered Tribal Areas of Chitral, Dir, Kalam, Swat and Malakand Protected Area, the same Jurisdiction as it has in relation to the other areas of the North-West Frontier Province.

3. Extension of Jurisdiction of High Court. The Peshawar High Court shall have, in relation to the Tribal Areas specified in section 2, the same Jurisdiction as it has in relation to the other areas of the North-West Frontier Province.

4. [Repeal.] Omitted by the Federal Laws (Revision and Declaration) Ordinance, 1981 (XXVII of 1981), s. 3 and Sch., II.
